Network issue 01-Aug-2008 01:30

August 1, 2008

We are currently experiencing a network issue that is affecting all Doreo Hosting servers. We are working as quickly as we can to identify the issue and resolve it. We will post updates as more information becomes available to we resolve the issue.

Update 02:10

The issue appears to be resolved at this time. All servers are responding properly.

New blog layout

December 23, 2007

As you may have noticed, we have changed the layout / look and feel of the Doreo blog. We have switched to more of a “portal” look which we hope will make the blog more useful.

The new layout is broken into three sections. The left most section consists of two tabbed areas. The top set of tabs will contain featured stores. The bottom set of tabs contains graphs with general Doreo Hosting information (Spam Filtering and Uptime for now).

The middle section will contain posts in Five categories

Doreo News
This section will always contain the latest Doreo Hosting news. If there are any server outages (or planned outages) they will be posted here.

Uptime
This section will always contain the latest Doreo Hosting uptime information.

MailFoundry
This section will always contain the latest Doreo Hosting MailFoundry information. It will include any updates to MailFoundry as well as our monthly MailFoundry statistics.

Security
This section will always contain the latest Doreo Hosting MailFoundry security alerts. The section will always contain information on the latest Fnatastico updates as well as notices for all common open source packages.

The left most section contains more typical blog information. The top part contains a form where you can sign up to receive blog posts via email (instead of having to visit the blog). These emails will be in digest format, so you will only receive one email no mater how many posts we make in a single day. The next section shows the ten posts. Finally, near the bottom of the column are links that categorize posts by section (top) as well as in archive format by date.

We hope you find the new portal layout helpful. Our intent was to create a site where you can quickly and easily check for the latest Doreo Hosting and outages. As usual, we appreciate your feedback and we will adjust the layout/design over the coming months as we receive feedback.

Issue with the Ensim server “centari”

October 8, 2007

We had an issue with the server “centari” that required a reboot to resolve. The problem started at approximately 6:22 pm Central US time and was back on-line at approximately 6:29 pm. We will continue to monitor the server to insure the problem does not occur again.

Problem with web service on “starfury”

September 9, 2007

At approximately 9:30 am Central US time we were notified that there were problems loading some web sites on the server “starfury”. After a bit of investigation it was determined that the problem was related to a new version of LiteSpeed that was installed Saturday evening (minor maintenance). We backed out the current version of LiteSpeed and reverted back to the version before the upgrade. All sites were functioning problem by 10:00 am Central US time.

End of life for PHP 4.x announced

July 19, 2007

On the 13th of July 2007 the PHP development team announced the end of life for PHP version 4.x.

What does end of life for PHP 4.x mean?

  • Support for PHP 4.x will end 2007-12-31
  • Critical security patches will be released util 2008-08-08

What is Doreo doing to support PHP 4?

We have been working on the PHP 4 vs. PHP 5 problem (behind the scenes) for several months. The biggest problem that we face is that not all PHP programs will run on PHP 5. Almost all programs can be modified to run on PHP 5 but we are doing our best to not break any existing client sites. The solution that we have come up with allows us to run both PHP 4 and PHP 5 on any Doreo cPanel account. At this time we don’t have any details on the solution but we are hoping to have more details and an implementation plan available in late July or very early August.

Network issues

As you may have noticed, the cPanel upgrade has been delayed. cPanel (the vendor) has pushed back the release date because a minor bug has been discovered. Our current target date for the upgrade is 8-June-2007. We will notify all client by email as the date firms up.
