Possible issue with uptime monitoring for July 2008

by Frank on July 18, 2008

Doreo Hosting utilizes HyperSpin for our uptime monitoring. Early this morning HyperSpin reported the following issues:

  • epsilon – 1 minute
  • vorlon – 47 minutes
  • minbar – 1 minute
  • mail31 – 14 minutes

We beleive that these were false outages. Our other two monitoring services reported no downtime. We are researching this further to see why HyperSpin showed any downtime.

I have accounts with Vorlon and Minbar.

Last night (around midnight, PST) Vorlon was down and I was not able to access my sites until just before 1 AM. The same issue applied to all of my accounts in my reseller package on Minbar.

Your report with Vorlon is absolutely correct however, the report on Minbar is incorrect as it didn’t come back up until the same time my Vorlon hosted account did.

From what we’re getting now this was a “it depends” outage. There were several major providers (Verzion, AT&T, SBC and many others) that were having issues last night. If you use one of those providers the servers were in fact down for you.
